Poggio Argentiera

Region:
Tuscany, Italy

Poggio Argentiera started up in 1997 in the Podere Adua, a small farm named “ Adua ”. Initially the Poggio Argentiera owned 6 hectares and only produced Morellino di Scansano. Today the winery covers 27 hectares and has seven labels. This explosion of growth can be attributed to a change in strategy : Tua Rita, a wine producer in Suvereto, took over the Poggio Argentiera in 2015. Tua Rita has 30 years of history behind it and is an ambassador of good Italian wine throughout the world.

What has not changed, is the biological and environmentally compatible approach to the vines. Poggio Argentiera has a complex ecosystem that is cared for and continued, with total respect for the environment. The 27 hectares are distributed in two geologically and climatically differing areas. One, on the borders of the Maremma Natural Park where Poggio Argentiera has its Head Office, comprises 13 hectares. The earth here is a limey sand with little organic matter. The 14 hectares in Baccinello, are tucked into the hilly area of Scansano where the earth is very stony. This composition, together with its slopes and exposure, give life to vines that promise surprising potential.
